I found this interesting site today. You use a slider bar to place a guess on what you think your body size is closest to, and then you enter your actual measurements and it shows you what your actual body size is. As you can see above, I overestimated my own size by 22.5%… That’s outrageous and actually really sad.

It’s an interesting way to put things into perspective.

Check it out here.

Anonymous asked:
have you run into any problems with drinking and having type 1? i've heard alchohol can lower blood sugar and it can be dangerous but is it true?

yeah, i’ve been told that as well. however, i haven’t really had issues with it since i always make sure to eat beforehand/during and/or after.

i’ll be honest: i drink a lot, and if anything my blood sugars edge more toward the high range. while its not ideal, and while i know it does sound bad, i’d much prefer to be a little bit more high with my sugars when i drink just in case my sugars drop unexpectedly.

another thing that helps is the Dexcom, a continuous blood glucose monitor that checks my blood sugars every 5 minutes, and documents the trends. its great when i don’t have the time to check my blood sugar via finger pricking, and can alert me if my sugars are going up/down.
